# Apply → Measure → Accept

The three buttons on every recommendation row. Each maps to a server function and a database state transition.

## Apply

* Clones the agent with the recommendation's `apply()` mutation.
* Saves the variant as a sibling agent with tags `["variant", "from:<parent>"]`.
* Sets `recommendations.status = 'applied'`, `variant_id = <new>`.

## Measure

* Clones the original benchmark set, re-runs against the variant with the *same* iterations + concurrency.
* On completion, runs Welch's *t*-test against the baseline iterations stored on the recommendation.
* Sets `status = 'measured'`, persists `p_value` and `delta_ms`.

## Accept / Reject

Accept is only enabled when:

1. `delta_ms < 0` (variant is faster)
2. `p_value < 0.05`
3. Error rate did not increase

If those hold, **Accept** promotes the variant to be the canonical agent under the parent's name and archives the parent under `name (pre-<date>)`. **Reject** keeps the parent canonical and archives the variant.

## Why the gate is strict

A recommendation that lowers mean latency by 20 ms but raises p99 by 400 ms is a regression for any interactive workload. The accept gate is intentionally conservative: better to leave an improvement on the table than to ship a tail-latency regression.
